"Friday Night" by Bygrave
ReviewJust released by (Dan) Bygrave is "Friday Night": his first release of 2023 produced by Wigz for Beat Rebel Records.
You'll guess the subject matter from the title, but it does not conform to stereotypical "Friday night" songs which almost always centre on celebration & the release from the working week and therefore tend to be upbeat party tracks.
This is a much more mellow & reflective one: both musically & lyrically. The theme is itself about reflection and even improving self knowledge. Yes, he recognises it's the end of the week & yes he's listening to music, but he's using it to chill out & ease his burdens more than engage in manic activity.
A thoughtful & mature song which I found most appealing, he adheres to a rap style lyrical approach, which can be a little restrictive given the importance of rhymes, but fortunately he's not only in his own territory of content, he has the vocabulary to keep the words fresh & sounding sincere.
