Maz O'Connor - Haunting, Emotive Vocals and Poetic Lyricism at Temperance, Leamington Spa.

Feature

Known for her haunting, emotive vocals and poetic lyricism, her songs are most often short stories inspired by her love of literature, folklore and mythology. Winning a BBC Performing Arts Fund Fellowship in 2014 (once won by Adele) kickstarted O'Connor's music career, and later that year she was nominated for a BBC Folk Award for her first album, ‘This Willowed Light'. Maz has since released 3 further albums, toured extensively, played live sessions on BBC Radio 2 and 3, and appeared at major U.K. festivals, including Glastonbury and WOMAD. In 2021, she won the Drake YolanDa Award, supported by YolanDa Brown.

Maz's new single  My new single 'Sink' is ready and will be released on Sept 15th ahead of my tour dates :)
'Sink' is the second single of 2023 from folk singer-songwriter Maz O'Connor, following on from her 2022 album, 'What I Wanted'.

It tells the story of the breakdown of a romantic relationship told over three summers. The poetic, melancholic lyrics explore co-dependency through the metaphor of 'sinking'. 'You could have saved me / and we both know it / but we can't always save each other / we have to do it for ourselves sometime...'
