'Too' by Firedaze
ReviewI hope that you enjoyed the song "Drunken Sailor" by Firedaze which we shared with you on 'Hot Music Live Presents Volume Six'?
The track also appeared on both their most recent album 'Let's Have Another One' from 2021 and their new EP 'Too'.
However this latest release marks the reformulation of the band from the trio of their past incarnation to a dup of Steff Hutchinson (vocals, guitar, bass, foot percussion) and Chris "String" Radley (bass, acoustic guitar, backing vocals, foot percussion and loops) and they seem to have seized the opportunity to rework a couple of songs off the album for the EP: both "Drunken Sailor" and "Skol" as well as giving us "Too Smart Too Soon", "Angels With Broken Wings" and "Lightning Strikes".
Curiously I got into them as a live experience (and I was pleased to catch them at this year's Peace Festival in Leamington) & appreciated their recordings subsequently. However as is often the case, my perspective is not the quite the same as their own as they say that "for many years (the band) was more of a studio project but the (new lineup) band is now becoming much more focused on live performance". So let's hope they get plenty more opportunities to share what they do in concert.
