"Viridian Rush" by Lucifer Sky

News

Out now is "Viridian Rush" from Lucifer Sky.

I am not quite sure how to describe what it is, let alone what it sounds like.

As a single track, it ought to be a single, but at over twenty one minutes in duration, that sounds a fairly inadequate term. Can one have an album with only one track? If not, why or earth not?

Let's settle for saying that she's released a new piece of music & leave it at that. It's true & blurring concepts is part of what she is aiming for anyway.

The second part of my conundrum is even less easily resolved. Long complex pieces deserve more than the glibness of snappy short reviews: too much work will have gone into the detail after all. Experimental work such as this also eschews the easily described content of more conventional fare & so my own vocabulary falls far too short.

At the risk of reviewing cowardice, I think I'd best not take responsibility for attempting something I'm doomed to fail at & leave you to your own conclusions. You might have the right words yourselves but even if you don't, does it matter always? Some music is just an artefact in its own right: beyond prose equivalence & to be experienced & enjoyed in its own universe on its own terms. I'm glad that people have the courage & vision to create without preconceptions nor culturally imposed boundaries.
