‘Let's Go Round Again' by The Primitives

News

As prophesised in my review of the current Primitives single "Sweet Sister Sorrow", they now also have a (compilation) album out called   ‘Let's Go Round Again - Second Wave Singles And Rarities 2011 – 2025'.

I really don't need to explain its contents as the title is pretty explicit in that respect, but maybe a do need to urge you (though I hope that's not necessary) to give it a spin.

Too often, when a band goes into & then emerges from hiatus, it's the "first phase" hits & favourites which remain the foci of radio playlisting, the choices of multi artist compilations & general audience awareness: fair enough inasmuch as those songs were the ones which built reputations, but unfair given that accumulated experience tends to produce equal or superior material on reconvening.

Personally I think (and tend to mention every time I write about the band) that The Primitives are producing much of their finest work this time round & I will defy anyone to prove otherwise. The title track ("Spin-O-Rama") is up there with my personal favourites of all time from them as is "Never Kill A Secret": and I respect it if you choose from others amongst these twenty eight selections for your own.

There is the regrettably too often overlooked Christmas single ("You Trashed My Christmas"), alternative & reworked versions, both sides of the current single plus a couple of radio sessions.

Apart from digital formats, you can also get   ‘Let's Go Round Again - Second Wave Singles And Rarities 2011 – 2025' as a coloured vinyl double album.

If you like career (or semi-career) compilations, this is up there with the finest ever & if you bought its equivalent from the first half of their story you really do need this one too…
