"Just Another Name" by The Rising

Review

The latest single from Belfast founded & now Leamington based "fresh-faced Pop/Rock with Modern Country Stylings" duo The Rising is "Just Another Name", released on 27th March

Following on from previous singles reviewed in the magazine such as "Christmas Brought You Here" (unsurprisingly in December) "Endless Summer" (equally so in July) and of course their album ‘Moving On' which I had the pleasure of telling you about last June, "Just Another Name" sees guitarist Chris Logan & vocalist Chantelle McAteer share another infectious slice of their very own blend of musical genres.

Like most of the material of their own which I have heard, the song manages to present a lyrical theme which could just as easily be set to something more dark, menacing or negative in a sunny & optimistic manner: which is encouraging for us as listeners especially at the moment: I assume they had got it written when the current crisis hit so it's not a direct response as such, though it does luckily have that effect of brightening our days. As I say, their general attitude is one of "can do" in the face of adversity.

The precise target of this song would seem to be those negative voices artists on their way up are obliged to hear: the jealous, the discouraging & the downright malicious.Chantelle is defiant in the face of this & clearly isn't going to be swayed by it, though looking forward rather gleefully to a bit of "I told you so" when her name is in lights.

The Rising exude a refreshing breath of positivity on record and live, so it's a great shame that this very hard working & focussed band have lost planned live performances. Undaunted, they are throwing their considerable enthusiasm into prolific live streaming (it's not unusual for them to do more than one a day). Let's hope we can see them and everyone else in the flesh before too long. In the meantime, raise your spirits with "Just Another Name".
